Abstract

The mechanical properties of SA333 C-Mn Steel after fracture under diverse loading conditions have been investigated for further evaluation of damage. Miniature tensile specimens are machined by wire-EDM from the gauge portion of the failed specimens which were subjected to in phase and out of phase multiaxial loading and pure axial loading. From the experiment, it is observed that yield stress and Young’s modulus reduce significantly from the initial values for SA-333 C-Mn Steel. There is considerable variation in the tensile stress strain curve of the material with different types of loading. Finite Element simulations have been performed to estimate the mechanical behavior of the damaged material due to this loading variation. Plasticity model using Chaboche kinematic hardening model had been used to model the degraded mechanical properties of this material.
