Abstract

Aerospace materials are materials, usuallymetal alloys or composites, that have eitherbeen developed for, or have come to prominence through, their application foraerospace purposes. These materials require exceptional fatigue resistance, high strength& toughness, low density, low ductile to brittle transition temperature, impact resistance, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, etc. These parameters are not to be conceded, even at considerable cost of manufacturing. In the back drop of recent preferment, this paper dwells upon material and design advancement like smart aircraft wings, vibration absorbing lattice structure, lightweight membrane; which can reduce inflight noise, lightweight material for high stability, metallic foams etc. followed by suggestions/possible applications. The paper attempts to establish that there could be wide spread usage of these materials in future if harnessed techno-economically. The article is just a humble attempt from the academic point of view.
