Abstract

An anodic oxidation etching technique has been developed to reveal the cast morphology of aluminum and aluminum-copper alloys. The paper shows that the cell size (secondary or tertiary dendrite arm spacing) depends upon the degree of superheat, undercooling and the copper content.
