Abstract

Generally magnetite ore prefered over other iron mineral for pelletization, but now due to generation of huge amount of fines, it has become essential to use hematitic and goethiteic iron ore fine for pelletization. Pellets quality depand upon charactiristies of iron ore fines ,pelletization parameters and firing schedule. The moisture present in the pellets is expelled before it reaches firing zone. Any combined moisture or gas results into disinterigration of pellets if not remove before entering the firing zone. There for a proper firing schedule nedded to avoid such problems specially in case of goethiteic or sideratic ore samples. In the present investigation an attempt has been made to study the calcination behaviour of a goethiteic iron ore fines constitute of 6.11% loss on ignation. Based on calcination temperature and time a firing cycle has been developed. Which will help in modifying the existing firing cycle for processing of goethiteic iron ore pellets.
