Abstract
Mankind has faced many disasters from natural causes throughout the history of civilization. Earth quakes, floods, typhoons and volcanic eruption, events with potential to kill large number of peoples to cause subs-tantial damage to the property and environment - have been on record since time immemorial. Government of India has already initiated steps and a High Power Committee at national level constituted to workout comprehensive plan for prevention and mitigation of disaster in our country.
