Abstract

The present paper reports a statistical analysis of the performance of sintering plant number one at Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP). Linear regression equations have been established for strand productivity, yield, strength and reducibility of sinter based on monthly/yearly average data. The input of raw mix to the strand increases linearly with the suction at wind main. The basicity of sinter is found to be the most significant parameter to affect producti-vity, yield, strength and reducibility of sinter. The yield and strength of sinter improve with increase in the amount coke in sinter mix. Greater crushing indices of flux and coke improve the performance indices quite considerably.
