Abstract
Acrylamide based polymers are effective as flocculants in the treatment of fine particles. Starch and starch products have been used in flocculation of hematite and also as a depressant for calcite with regard to benefi-ciation from fluorite and similar application. This paper deals with the preparation of polyacrylamide and its cha-racterisation with regard to its molecular weight. Phosp-horylated starch polymers have been synthesized wherein the phosphate group is imparted in the starch sample. The concentration of these polymers are determined using colorimetric techniques and the results are reproducible within 10 percent.
