Abstract

Fly ash, a by-product of thermal power plants resulting from the combustion of pulverised coal in the coal fired furnaces, is a silico-aluminate material consisting of SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 as the major constituents and varying amount of CaO, MgO, SO32. The concept of sustainable solutions ofr fly ash is closely linded with technologies with aligned vision for environment, economy and societal goals [BCSD-GM, 1997, WBCSD, 2002].
