Abstract
Archimedes buoyancy should be calculated considering bulk density of the suspension rather than density of pure liquid. They concluded that the overall friction can be decomposed into solid-liquid and solid-solid component. In the upper transition (Laminar to turbulent) and turb-ulent regime, the particle-particle friction is shown to be proportional to the product of the hold up of the fluidized particles and the slip velocity of dense fluid-ized particles.
