Abstract

A new approach to analyze the ultrasonic signal using Birefringence effect for texture analysis has been attem-pted for determining major texture components in copper and stainless steel in annealed and cold rolled condit-ions. Results of ultrasonic signal analysis have been compared with the texture studied by conventional X-ray diffraction technique. It has been found that the spectrum analysis of windowed ultrasonic signal can be a non-destructive tool to determine the major texture components in deformed materials.
