Abstract

Based on the measured RS profiles on the life-expired MLG and its comparison with the other three MLG investi-gated earlier, the following conclusions have been drawn. The residual stress profile of new MLG appeared as V-shaped with rounded bottom. The relaxation of CRS with number of landing appeared as (a)reduction in (b)flatt-ening of CRS peak, (c)linear decrease in CRS with depth. For all the landing gears, RS at the top surface of all the locations remained compressive, but magnitude of compressive stress varies and having different nature of variation. The CRS at different locations of life expired MLG increases with depth reaching to a peak value and then decreases generating a valley type of graphical profile except for locations 'C'&'J'where CRS decreases linearly with depth.
