Abstract

The given material is made of ZhS-6K alloy of Russian specification and the sampling has been done from first stage right hand middle portion of a aeroengine turbine blade. It has been depicted previously, that formation of TCP's in the secondary reaction zone occurred below the ceramic coating (-50-80um) in the subsurface region of the component and presents over a span of -10-15um forming a colony. The secondary reaction zone was characterized in transmission electron microscopy with an aim to reveal the morphology, orientation relationship and sequence of the formation of topologically close packed phases.
