Abstract
CSIR-NML has made immense contributions in the development of product and processes for steel industries. The article describes some of the notable aspects of these developmental research works. These include the alloy steel development such as erosion resistant materials, superplastic high carbon steel, nickel free stainless steel, HSLA steel, TRIP and TWIP steels galvanising and aluminising coatings for steel, inhibitors for pickling of steels etc. The properties and benefits of these processes and products have been brought out.
