Abstract

The paper presents an overview of the arsenic contami-nation of groundwater which may be termed as the worst case of mass poisoning in recent times. Sources of arsenci in ground water, environmental chemistry of arsenic in natural water, microbial transformation of arsenic species and relevant threories of arsenic dissolution have been discussed in details.
