Abstract
In this research, the correlation between magnetic properties and microstructure has been studied for medium carbon steel at different heat treatment conditions, aim-ing to use magnetic nondestructive technique for charac-terization of material. Medium carbon steel samples are heated at different temperature and cooled in furnace and then its microstructure is examined with the help of optical light microscopy and magnetic properties are determined by magnetic hysteresis loop technique. Another approach is to heating the samples to a specific temp-erature and then cooled with different cooling rate using different quenchant. Results of the nondestructive magne-tic tests were compared with microstructures and a good correlation was found between them.
