Abstract

The paper describes the gas and smoke cleaning plant for closed and open furnaces. New high temperature filters for dry cleaning of carbon monoxide gases from closed furnaces have been developed and the operation of a full size filter at Bremanger Smelteverk is discussed. The paper also describes the various types of filters that are in use today. Baghouse filters using reverse air and with bags made of glass fibre have been discussed in detail. Altogether 14 filters designed by Elkem are in operation at various places in the world.
