Abstract

The present paper discusses a few important factors that are responsible for the destruction of ferrous metals by corrosion in thermal power plant. It is unfortunate that practically all metals under some environment or other are subjected to corrosion attack with the ultimate result in metal failures. It is estimated that the annual cost of corrosion in India approaches several crores of rupees.
