Abstract

We have tried to describe our vacuum refinning and heating plant by giving a survey of the technical characteristics followed by a brief description of the processes of refining and heating under vacuum. Then we have dealt with the economies and qualitative advantages of the technology. The results we have until now obtained in treating aust-enitic and ferritic steel grades, Ni-base alloys with over 70% Ni as well as alloyed structural and tool steels in these unite have fully justified our belief that we had been right in deciding to invest in this facility which has fully answered our expections.
