Abstract

Establishment of an input-wise consistent blowing practice forms the back-bone for fully realising the productivity of steel in the BOF process. The existing blowing practice at R.S.P., which is based on operators' experience, has been evaluated and the problems encountered were ident-ified. The features of a modified blowing practice with which slopping could be controlled, has been discussed. In imlementing this practice, the role played by the stack gas temperature probe has been highlighted. A scheme has been proposed to reduce the incidence of corrections on account of wide scatter in the end-point temperature perf-ormance.
