Abstract

An attempt has been made to develop an electro-thermal model to determine the optimum design parameters and smelting operation variables for the complete reduction in reducing type ferro-alloy furnaces. The characteristics and composition of raw materials do play significant role for the complete reduction in these types of furnaces. A criterion has been developed for a selected distribution of total heat input to the furnace among the different zones for complete reduction by choosing the optimum design parameterw and smelting operation variables.
