Abstract

The flotation behaviour of fine particles of magnesite with carboxylic acid collectors and a chelating agent is studied by a Hallimond tube along with zeta-potential experiments by micro-electropboresis method and adsorption experiments by shaking method. Correlation of zeta-potential data with flotation behaviour and adsorption for the range of pH and concentration studied is examined. The nature of adsorption at the double layer is evaluated. The effect of addition of cations and anions like Mg+2 and Co3-2 on the floatability and zera-potential of magnesite with oxine are discussed.
