Abstract

The experiments for determining thermodynamic relation- ship between lanthanium and sulphur in molten steel were investigated. The lowest sulphur content in steel of 0.00201% is obtained when residual La content in steel is 0.0092%. The thermodynamic values are K1 ., = 8.10-". AGLas = 182.826 Ulna' and e'•'s = —5 for La contents from 0.002 to 0.0092%. In these experiments a radioactive technique and Xray were used to determine the extremely low contents of the lanthanium in the metal phase at equilibrium. Some explanation is offered for the difference.
