Abstract
Deterioration of Railway track is a subject of great importance for Railway Engineers all over the World. The methods used on Indian Railway to reduce deterioration of Railway track has not been to our expectations. The deterioration of Railway track is increasing at an alarm-ing rate despite having a defined procedure and schedule for their testing. Hence, a systematic investigation for condition assessment of Railway track is required. Several insitu testing methods and several techniques and instru-ments are available for investigation of deteriorated Railway track. In the present paper the author intend to highlight the factors responsible for deterioration, its investigation, methods adopted to control it and an innovative solution for the present track system.
