Roll Qualities and Economic Utilisation of Rolls

Abstract

Rolls do the most important work in a rolling mill. They constitute a very important component of the running cost of the mill. Therefore it is imperative that optimum performance be obtained from the rolls. The roll has mainly three parts -- Wbbblers, Neck and Barrel. The wobblers are for driving or rotating the rolls, the necks are to support them in the mill housings and the barrel portion is the working portion of the roll where actual rolling takes place.
