Abstract

Lateritic iron ore samples from Kahnwara, Katni were supplied by M/s Delta Coal and Mining Pvt. Ltd, Bhopal. Sample No. KA, KB and KC were customer defined samples and representing Compact laterite, Friable laterite and Limonitic laterite respectively. These three samples were to be studied for characterization. Samples K-85 and K-83 were two composite samples, each of 10 ton received at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur. Based on the mineralogical information on the samples KA, KB and KC, the composite ore K-85 was advised by M/s Delta Coal and Mining Pvt. Ltd, Bhopal for the beneficiation study. The whole work was mainly split into two phases- (i) mineralogical study of customer defined lateritic iron ore samples KA, KB and KC and (ii) beneficiation of customer defined composite lateritic iron ore sample K-85. All the supplied ores are of pisolithic laterite attribute with goethitic pisoliths cemented by a goethitic matrix.
