Symposium on Iron and Steelmaking

Abstract

It was almost three years back that the National Meta-llurgical Laboratory and the Indian Institute of Metals considered jointly extending an invitation for a joint Technical Meeting in India to the Iron and Steel Insti-tute in the United Kingdom, which today is the foremost and the oldest professional institute in ferrous metall-urgical fields anywhere, with a membership drawn from all parts of the world. We are very happy indeed that the Iron and Steel Institute accepted our invitation. The visit to India of the Iron and Steel Institute is not only its first east of Suez but also constitutes a landmark in the growth of professional bonds both within our Commonwealth and frontiers beyond.
