Abstract
When Robert Mushet happened to add manganese to the then newly invented Bessemer-Kelley processed steel, metall-urgical partnership of ferro alloys and steel started. Today the position is that ferro-alloys are of paramount importance both in times of war and peace- without ferro-alloys no steel can be made and without steel no war can be won or peace maintained.
