Abstract

THE Broken Hill Associated Smelters Pty. Ltd. Port Pirie, South Australia, is engaged in the smelting and refining of lead concentrate produced by - the various mining companies operating at Broken Hill, New South Wales. The company pursues an active developmental policy, and its organisation includes a research department whose function it is to investigate and develop new and improved methods concerned with the sintering, blast furnace smelting and refining of the lead and associated metals contained in the Broken Hill concentrate.
