Abstract

There has been a continued rise in industrial production during the year 1958-59. Various new items of production like chilled iron grits, compounded electroplating salts, heavy industrial machines were started besides establish-ing new ranges of production in the existing lines of manaufacture like foundry grade pig iron, steel castings, aluminium copper, aluminium rods and other extruded sections. Schemes for increasing the capacity for the prod-uction of aluminium by another 20000 tons by the installa-tion of an aluminium smelter at Rhind and by expanding the capacity of the Hirakud smelter from 10 to 20 thousand tons per annum were approved.
