Abstract
Evaluation of Grade "E" castings of center buffer coupler (CBC) as per RDSO specification no. WD-70-BD-10 was done through chemical composition analysis, microstructural examination, hardness, impact toughness and tensile properties evaluation. Each parts of CBC are having almost same chemical composition and martensitic structure. Different parts of CBC are having some variation in hardness, impact toughness and tensile properties. The results indicate that all the properties of CBC components are within the limits as specified by RDSO with slight deviation.
