Abstract

During the last 50 years studies on the various aspects of the application of rare earth metals(RE) in the field of metallurgy had been done by metallurgists all over the world. Because of their strong chemical affinity for oxy-gen and sulphur, REs are considered as suitable deoxi-dizers and disulphurizers in liquid steel [1-30]. The group of RE comprises the lanthanide elements atomic numbers 57 to 71.
