Abstract
While corrosion is a known cause of resource depletion, hot dip galvanising is a proven way of increasing the corrosion resistance of mild steel substrates. The coating chemistry and post-dip passivation method affect the life of the coating. Before the commission- ing of the Galvanising Line Number 1 at the CRM in Tata Steel, a comparative evaluation of the performance of galvanised corrugated sheets from the Indian market was taken up. In order to improve the understanding of corrosion of GC sheets, marine corrosion tests and laboratory corrosion tests as per international standards were conducted to assess their ability to resist corrosion.
