Abstract
Phase equilibria in the CdSe-MnSe pseudobinary system has been studied by [68Cool and f 70Wie]. [68Coo] determined the liquidus and solidus as well as the melting points of CdSe and MnSe by differential thermal analysis and the solvus by measurements of the lattice parameter. A solid solution phase with the wurtzite sttucture was observed at the CdSe-rich end. and a solid solution phase with the rock salt structure was observed at the MnSe-rich end. The terminal solid solution determined for the wurtzitc structure was 50 mol % MnSe at 700 °C and 44 mol% MnSc at 1175 C. The unusual decrease in solubility at 1175 °C appears to be more because of the experimental uncertainty in lattice parameter measurements of the hexagonal phase rather than a systematic trend.
