Abstract

In Japan special steel-making was started in 1882 by means of the crucible furnace melting, and since 1914 the electric are furnace steel-making hasbeen studied. The production of arc-furnace steel increased year by year, and subsequently in 1938 crucible-furnace steel was wholly replaced by electric furnace steel.
