Abstract

The synthesis of nanomaterials such as Ni, Co, Fe and metallic alloys presents a great interest not only for the elucidation of basic research problem, but also for practical applications. In solution chemical routes, carbonate coprecipitation method has been shown to be an attractive method for synthesizing oxides. In this present investigation, nanocrystalline Co and CoNi particles are produced by the reduction of synthesized Co3O4 and Co2NiO4 with hydrogen gas at 300-500 degrees C. Nanocrystalline Co3O4 and Co2NiO4 were synthesized by carbonate coprecipitation method followed by annealing. Physico-chemical properties of Co and CoNi powders were studied by X-ray diffraction, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Vibration Sample Magnetometer (VSM).
