Abstract

National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur came into existence in 1950. In due course, the laboratory established field stations at Howrah, Batala, Madras, Digha, Ahmedabad and a Regional Marketing Centre at Calcutta. Over the last 50 years, the laboratory had grown from strength to strength and contributed towards the industrial development of the nation the areas of mine-rals, metals and materials. The present paper reviews some of these developments and highlights activities to be pursued in future.
