Abstract

In the context of an organization, information processing refers to three major activities such as collection, compilation and dissemination. When these three activities are properly synchronized, a continuous information flow can be envisaged. Currently information collection process is need based i.e. whenever information is required they are obtained on request. Often the data obtained are found to be inconsistent, incomplete and made available in various formats. Moreover same data is collected several times from an individual scientist or a division. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a system which would ensure smooth information flow operation in NML. It is found to be a daunting task to develop such a continuous information flow model in an organization without a unified information processing protocol. In this project, a protocol for developing unified model for organizational information processing has been outlined. Comprehensive review of NML’s information system has been reported. Piecewise implementation of the unified system has been accomplished. Road map for developing the proposed system has been presented. M. (PL), S.K. Pal (Co-PL), A. , Sudip Kundu, K. Chatterjee, B.
