Abstract
In spite of large deposits of good grade bauxite and potential power sources, the price of aluminium in India is the highest in the world which is attributed to small overall production. In view of thescarcity of copper, lead, zinc, tin, nickel, etc.,replacement of these metals by aluminium hasbeen stressed. Multifarious applications of aluminium and its alloys have been mentioned and their advantages indicated.
