Abstract

Filtration studies have been made for the slurry generated in the ammoniacal leaching of polymetallic sea nodules. The various process variables such as the filtration pressure, concentration of the slurry and the plugging of the filter medium with the cyclic use have been investigated. The resistance due to the filter medium and cake formation was determined with the use of a filtration equation . It has been found that the medium and cake resistances increased with the rise of the filtration pressure, and the repeated use of the filter led to the increased specific resistance of the- medium (Rm).
