Abstract

The recovery of copper and zinc by SX-EW by LIX-64N is a very convenient process for the separation of Cu and Zn followed by recovery of these metals as cathodes.. Quality sheet deposits of copper and zinc were obtained with energy requirement of 1.96 and 3.35 kWh/kg for the respective metals. The process seems to be eminently suitable for treatment of leach liquors produced from calcines obtained by the sulphation-toast process of complex sulphide ores in fluidised-bed reactor and applicable to a number of complex sulphide deposit in India such as that of Ambamata, Sikkim, Rajpura, Dariba etc:.
