Abstract

Ferro-silicon is employed for reducing and alloying steel and for the reduction of various oxides in alloy steel production. It was produced in pilot scale 500 KVA submerged arc furnace utilizing the indigenous raw materials. The production data of pilot scale smelting trials has been discussed and a model of ferro-silicon formation has been proposed.
