Abstract

Use of sinters as iron burden in blast furnaces has been increased in major countries. However, the pre-evaluation of the sinters to be suitable as blast furnace feed is required. More emphasis is laid on studies like reducibility, reduction degradation index (RDI) and softening-melting characteristics at high temperature since these indicate the behaviour of burden material at the stack-bosh interface. The inter-alia relationship of different evaluation studies of a sinter adjudges its suitability as a blast furnace feed.
