Abstract
The gas-solid fuidization, especially its fundamental aspects, is a development of the last four decades. During the last three decades, apart from its application in chemical and metallurgical industries, its spread even to the design of nuclear reactors. It is essential to comprehend the various phenomena that comprise the entire spectrum of gas-solid fluidization. Further advancement in fluidization engineering is possible only when a fundamental understanding of bubbling and slugging fluidized systems is acquired in order to predict the various hydrodynamic characteristics. Still the scale-up and design procedures for a gas-solid fluidized bed reactor ate not well established.
