Abstract

Silver-silver cadium composites of various compositions and different thickness ratios have been developed by roll bonding technique. Joining of such composites to the base metal imparts better bonding strength and consequently good service life compared to the brazing of non-clad silver-cadium contact material to the base metal. Various metallurgical parameters such as surface preparation, preparation of a suitable sandwich pack, rolling temperatures and reduction per pass have been investigated and detailed in this paper.
