Abstract

The effect of thiourea allylthiourea and thiosemicarbazide on hydrogen absorption by 0.26, 0.45 and 1% C steels during acid attack in 1N sulphuric acid at 40°C has been studied. The straight kline relationship between log current density equivalent to weight loss and hydrogen absorption indicates that hydrogen absorption during metal attack and cathodic charging is similar in nature. The relationship between the theoretically available hydrogen and the weight loss helps in differentiating the performance of the inhibitors. (Prof. V.A. Altekar, Dr. Inder Singh, Shri M.K.
