Abstract

The paper touches upon the factors relating to wear due to erosion when a liquid with solid particles is pumped through or carried to long distance under pressure. Various materials advocated for such applications are given. National Metallurgical Laboratory has developed alloys, with indigenous raw-materials, resistant to abrasive wear for components subjected to low stress scratching abrasion. The problems encountered in the development of materials resistant to erosion wear are also highlighted. (Shri R.D. Gupta, Scientist, National Metallurgical Laboratory)
