Abstract

The paper gives the details of an investigation on the cracking of steam header and failure of superheater tubes in a Thermal Power Plant. The failure was found to be due to the conjoint actions of corrosion, thermal fatigue and/or creep at the metal surface. (Shri P.S. Nag, Senior Scientific Assistant, Shri K.P. Mukherjee, Scientist; National Metallurgical Laboratory)
