Abstract

A precise accurate and rapid method for spectrophotometric determination of vanadium has been developed based on coloured complex formation of vanadium with diphenylcarbazide. The complex is extracted in acetic acid medium and absorbances are measured at 560 nm. Effects of acidity, reagent, time and interference have been studied. The system obeys Beer's law and sensivity of the method was found to be 0.012 µg/cm2 (Sandel's) (Dr. L.P. Pandey, Scientist, National Metallurgical Laboratory)
