Abstract
The Paper reviews the efforts in respect of the development of creep resistant steels in the country and in particular for the Heavy Electrical Industry. The various exercises on rationalisation of steels for high temperature applications and compiling of Technical Delivery Conditions have been brought out. The trends and the design criteria adopted by the Heavy Electrical Industry based upon the service behaviour of the steels in thermal and nuclear power stations have been spelt out. As a result of sustained efforts of BHEL, NML and steel makers, the indigenous development of creep resisting steels and creep testing of certain categories of steel are underway at National Metallurgical Laboratory) (Shri R.K.D.
