Abstract

A precise and accurate method for the spectrophotometric determination of cobalt has been developed based on colour-complex formation of cobalt with thioglycollic acid at a pH range 4.0 to 7.0. The absorbances are measured in aqueous media at 400 nm. Effects of reagent, pH, time and interferences were studied and the composition of the complex was established. The system obeys Beer's law and sensitivity of the method was found to be 0.011/cm2. (Dr. L.P. Pandey and A.
